Stenocereus pruinosis grows into the form of a tree with branching occuring in maturity. A clear trunk is initially formed which is light green and glaucous, with spines that are grayish in colour. Stenocereus pruinosis produces funnel-shaped, white flowers which grow near the tips of the shoots. They open at night, usually staying open until the next day.
Stenocereus pruinosis will grow into a mature specimen which will be a standout feature in any dry garden.

Stenocereus pruinosis crave full sunlight for 4 to 6 hours daily. Conversely, insufficient sunlight can lead to weak growth and minimal blooming.
As a desert cactus, Stenocereus pruinosis can tolerate periods without water. Water the cactus thoroughly during its active growth season (spring and summer), saturating the soil. Allow the soil to dry out to prevent root rot caused by waterlogged conditions.
Stenocereus pruinosis will benefit from an application of an All Purpose, Slow Release fertiliser every 9-12 months.
You can grow Stenocereus pruinosis in warm climates directly in the ground. For containers, ensure well-draining soil rich in nutrients.
