Pilocereus gounelli crave full sunlight for 4 to 6 hours daily. Conversely, insufficient sunlight can lead to weak growth and minimal blooming.
As a desert cactus, Pilocereus gounelli can tolerate periods without water. Water the cactus thoroughly during its active growth season (spring and summer), saturating the soil. Allow the soil to dry out to prevent root rot caused by waterlogged conditions.
Pilocereus gounelli will benefit from an application of an All Purpose, Slow Release fertiliser every 9-12 months.
You can grow Pilocereus gounelli in warm climates directly in the ground. For containers, ensure well-draining soil rich in nutrients.
