Parodia leninghausii ‘Golden Torch’ is a species from South America which has gentle yellow spines, giving it a torch-like glow. Each torch grows up to 30cm and when mature, will produce silky, yellow flowers. Golden Torch are a stunning variety and will compliment other cacti, both large and small when planted in garden setting.

Parodia leninghausii crave full sunlight for 4 to 6 hours daily. Conversely, insufficient sunlight can lead to weak growth and minimal blooming.
As a desert cactus, Golden Torch can tolerate periods without water. Water the cactus thoroughly during its active growth season (spring and summer), saturating the soil. Allow the soil to dry out to prevent root rot caused by waterlogged conditions.
Parodia leninghausii will benefit from an application of an All Purpose, Slow Release fertiliser every 9-12 months.
You can grow Golden Torch in warm climates directly in the ground. For containers, ensure well-draining soil rich in nutrients.
