Euphorbia resinifera, commonly known as Moroccan Mound, is a striking succulent from the Euphorbiaceae family. Native to the arid regions of Morocco, it thrives in rocky or sandy habitats. This succulent boasts a unique architectural appearance, forming a low-growing, compact mound of densely packed, cylindrical stems. The stems display a captivating grey-green to bluish-green hue with a succulent texture.
Cultivating Euphorbia resinifera requires well-draining soil and full to partial sun exposure. This drought-tolerant plant prefers infrequent watering, making it an ideal choice for succulent gardens, rock gardens, or desert-themed landscapes.

Euphorbia resinifera thrives in full sun, distinguishing it from many other plants and some Euphorbia species. However, it benefits from afternoon shade in hotter climates to protect it from scorching.
Euphorbia resinifera can be cultivated at room temperature all year round. However, it is better to keep it at temperatures around 10 to 15 °C if it is to flower.
Euphorbia resinifera is highly drought-tolerant, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping. Once established, the plant requires little to no water other than rainfall. Young plants may need weekly watering during the hottest summer months.
Moroccan Mounds will thrive with an application of an All Purpose, Slow-Release fertiliser every 9-12 months.
Euphorbia Resinifera thrives in well-drained soil. Avoid wet soil, which can lead to rot, especially if conditions persist. Organic fertilisers, organic material, and compost contribute to the plant's growth. Add some of these to the first hole.
Use a cactus/succulent potting mix with drainage holes for container cultivation. If the container spends summers in the garden, mix at least 50% mineral content (such as pumice) to improve drainage. Container plants may need more frequent watering, especially in hot weather.
The good news is that Euphorbia Resinifera requires very little maintenance and minimal pruning. Enjoy the low-maintenance nature of this captivating succulent!
