Dasylirion wheeleri is commonly known as the Mexican Grass Tree or Desert Spoons and is a succulent native to Northern Mexico, along with Arizona and Texas in USA. It is an evergreen shrub with blue-toned, slender leaf blades which have toothed margins. The leaves radiate from the centre of the plants apex in all directions becoming spherical as the plant matures and they are tipped with white fibres.
The Mexican Grass Tree grows on a stout, short trunk which is dark brown in colour. As it matures, it will produce a narrow, tall spike of small, tan flowers.
A low-maintenance and drought tolerant variety that will suit any dry garden or pot situation.

Dasylirion wheeleri is a hardy plant requiring little watering during the cooler months. During its growing season in summer, you can slightly increase the amount and frequency of watering.
The Mexican Grass Tree will thrive with an application of an All Purpose, Slow-Release fertiliser every 6 months.
Dasylirion wheeleri requires a well-lit and well-ventilated environment for the best growing conditions.
Dasylirion wheeleri is native to the arid and semi-arid tropical regions of the Western Hemisphere and it thrives in warm and dry environments.
