The Crassula ovata ‘Hobbit,’ also known as the Hobbit Jade Plant, is a captivating variety of jade plants with narrower leaves than traditional ones. These easy-to-grow succulents are native to South Africa and Mozambique.
These plants thrive in moderate light, tolerate various temperatures, and are relatively adaptable to varying moisture levels. While jade plants can withstand less favourable conditions, they thrive better with more optimal growing conditions. Mature plants produce starry white or pink blossoms during winter, adding to their charm.

Hobbit Jade Plants require sufficient scattered light, with at least 4 hours of bright indirect sunlight daily to keep their leaves vibrant and perky.. While they can tolerate shade, the colours of the leaves may not be as vibrant as those produced in bright sunlight.
During summers, Hobbit Jade Plants need more water, but in moderate amounts. Ensure your pot has drainage holes and a dish under it. Thoroughly soak the plant during watering and wait until the soil is completely dry before watering again. In winter, water the plant to prevent leaf shrivelling.
To promote healthy growth and prevent root rot, Hobbit Jade Plants require well-draining soil.
For optimum health, fertilise your Crassula ovata ‘Hobbit’ every 9-12 months using an All Purpose, Slow Release fertiliser.
